The Old Course wasn't designed by a single architect — it evolved naturally over more than 600 years, shaped by figures including Allan Robertson, who widened the fairways and created its famous double greens, and Old Tom Morris, who refined the 1st and 18th holes as Keeper of the Green.
Crossing the Swilcan Bridge and navigating the infamous Road Hole are rites of passage for any golfer, and the course remains a working municipal links open to the public alongside its role as a championship venue.
Opened Early 1400s. The Old Course is the most frequent host of The Open Championship and is widely regarded as the birthplace of the game.
